  1. Why do you use goat’s milk for your soap?
Goat’s milk is naturally ultra-moisturizing. Goat’s milk soap contains capric, caprylic and capronic acids and natural occurring triglycerides (otherwise known as good fats). The result is a pH level that is good for healthy human hair and skin, while commercial soap can dry out the skin to the point at which it feels taut and itchy. The oil glands are forced to counteract, overproducing oils in an attempt to rebalance the pH of the skin. The result can be oily skin, unhappy skin, with clogged pores.
  2. What is your soap process?
We make soap the old fashioned way, from scratch, and using the cold process method. Whiff Whim Bars are made from a combination of fats (natural oils) with a lye solution until a process of saponification takes place. Saponification is a chemical process, which converts a fat into soap by reaction with an alkali (also known as "lye"). Saponification occurs as the raw materials are combined, stirred and neutralized. As a result of this process, a very important by product emerges - Glycerin, which is a natural skin softener and the foundation of all natural soap.
  3. Is there lye in your soap?
Yes, we do use lye in our soap making process. We use sodium hydroxide in our soaps. All soaps (excluding detergent bars, which are totally synthetic and chemical laden) are made with lye but no lye is left in the finished soap. Our soaps are balanced so the chemical reaction has the correct amounts of both lye and oil for a balanced reaction. The result is that our soap is very close to neutral.
  4. How do I use your Dead Sea salts?
Our salts are the real deal! Dead Sea bath salts contain 21 minerals including magnesium, calcium, sulphur, bromide, iodine, sodium, zinc and potassium. These essential minerals naturally occur in our bodies but must be replenished, as they are lost throughout the day. Dead Sea minerals are known to treat, detoxify, and cleanse our bodies. Dead Sea salts may help relieve the symptoms of Skin Disorders such as Psoriasis, and conditions such as Arthritis, back pain, Skin Allergies, Stress, Insomnia and many other related conditions. Need ideas? Use our salts in a skin conditioning/relaxing/muscle soak - add to a hot bath and soak your worries away, a foot soak - add a handful to a foot bath (massage for extra relief), remove dry skin - after bathing, while you're still wet, gently massage with dry salt, psoriasis treatment - dissolve Dead Sea salts into a warm bath and bathe for 20 minutes. Use 3-4 times a week for a period of 4 weeks for best results. As with all therapy programs, please consult a physician before using.
Note: Always rinse treated area with fresh water after each Dead Sea salt usage.
  5. Is it safe to take sea salt baths every day?
Yes, taking sea salt baths every day is very healthy for your body: 10-20 minutes in warm, not hot water. Be careful not to bathe with water too hot as this will decrease the benefits. The general idea is to re-create the waters of the Dead Sea in your own bath tub.
  6. Why do I have a ring around the edge of my bathtub after soaking in your Dead Sea salts?
When you bathe in warm water, your pores open. When you add high-quality bath salts, toxins are pulled out and drawn from your pores and these will leave a ring around your tub - this is a good thing! That is the evidence of what has left your body, cool, right?!
  7. How long before Dead Sea salts expire?
Salt does not expire, raw natural salt will last millions of years! However essential and natural oils may fade over time; Dead Sea salts that contain these should be used in one to two years.
  8. Can I use bath salts during pregnancy?
Please consult your doctor first before using Dead Sea salts or taking a bath while pregnant.
  9. Why is your deodorant making me break out?
The underarms are a sensitive area, it may be from shaving or a reaction to an ingredient. Take a break from shaving or take a break from the deodorant.
  10. Your deodorant doesn’t work for me…I smell worse, why?!
Did you know if you are using an aluminum based deodorant it clogs up your pores? That’s why it works; it’s stopping you from sweating! That’s not a necessarily good thing. Sweating is a natural process that regulates body temperature and detoxifies your body. Sweat by itself doesn't smell at all (seriously!). It's the bacteria that live on your skin that mix with the sweat and give it a stinky smell (that’s why our deodorant is packed with natural anti-bacterial killers!). It’s hard to ditch the bad stuff (yes, it’s bad for you) and commit to a few smelly weeks of your body detoxing. We suggest you stick with it and try in cooler months when you are still sweating (Spring & Fall). You got this!
  11. What kind of oils do you use for scents?
We use pure essential oils and natural blend oils. Essential oils are generally distilled (most frequently by steam or water) from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots, or other elements of a plant. Natural blends are blends of oils from natural sources and do not contain any synthetics, artificial flavors, or aromatic compounds.
  12. What is the shelf life of your Whiff Whims products?
We suggest you use your products within a year as our products do not contain preservatives to lengthen the shelf life of essential oils. Unscented products will last longer on the shelf.

Although we make gluten free products, our bakery is not exclusive to gluten free baking and we suggest if you have a serious gluten allergy you not purchase our gluten free baked goods. Even if a product does not contain gluten, there is always the possibility of cross-contamination.
  6. What do you use instead of wheat flour in your gluten free baked goods?
Every product is different, but most contain some combination of rice flour, tapioca flour and sorghum flour.
  7. What do you use instead of wheat flour in your paleo baked goods?
Every product is different, but most contain some combination of almond flour, coconut flour, and sorghum flour.

  1. Are your canned preserves registered and monitored?
Yes, our canned goods are registered and monitored by NC Department of Agriculture.
  2. Are the ingredients really grown on your farm?
Yes! We buy the seeds, grow and plant the seeds and as they grow, we care for them. After the plant is harvest ready, we hand pick from our fields and bring it to the farm kitchen to make into delicious goods. This includes the fruit trees; we hand planted the orchard in 2002.
